Went on a department trip to Batam last saturday and sunday (26, 27). Sat on a 45-minutes long ferry ride to batam from Harbourfront. Surprising met sy on the mrt, she also on her way to batam as well, staying in a different hotel though.
The trip was all about sightseeing, shopping and seafood.
Sightseeing Went to see the "famous" Barelang Fisabilliah bridge. The scenery was rather breathtaking surprisingly....
Seafood
Lunch was at some seafood resturant where we had gong gong, prawns, squids, chilli crabs, sweet&sour fish, curry veg and soup. The crab and gong gong were not nice at all.. yucks... Nevertheless, each of us could have unlimited of prawns, we could easily have 10 prawns /person.
Shopping The afternoon was spent shopping, buying some local products and visit some village kampong seeing them do some culture dance. Not very interesting though.
The things at the hypermart was very very cheap. Toiletries that we buy for $5-$6 in Singapore, was sold at only $1+!!! I think my collegues really spark that shopping spree in me that we literally zoom through every shelf to see what is good-buy-best-buy-must-buy. muhahah i didn't really buy much though because my lugguage cannot squeeze in more items.. haha!
The dinner sucks badly... coz is the same resturant! To make things worst.. is the same dish.. just that is cooked differently. So instead of having chilli crab, it's black pepper crab .. etc..
We checked into hotel at around 8 plus pm. Everyone was dead beat. Ooh.. but we woke up rather early at 9am Singapore time, approxiamately 8am batam time. Here's the view outside my window..
On a side note, i am on MC now. Well, i vomitted on monday midnight. No. It wasn't because of the food at Batam. It was my dinner on Monday. I think i poisoned myself, mama speculated that it could be the veggies that i fried that night was not cooked enough... haiz... How could that happened..
"Based on a very popular eponymous Manga series which began in 2002 (more than 600,000 copies sold), is an action packed comedy about Sung Chan (Kim Gang-woo), a young Korean chef who has lost his confidence after a terrible incident caused by his food. He is nevertheless been convinced to enter in a national competition, organized to find the true and only heir to the last royal chef of the Chosun Dynasty and inherited his famous knife and restaurant. Le Grand Chef is brimming with thrilling set pieces, broad humor, mouth-watering food and a skillful interweaving of heartfelt back stories."
The story line is SOOO long... It is almost like the 100 over episodes 大长今 packed into a 2 hours movie. It goes way back 3 generations, all about korea culture, food, royalty and people. Weird thing is your back will hurts from the long hours of sitting, but you just wanna finish the show and know the i-think-i-know-whats-the ending-is-like.
Somehow, i do disagree with some review commenting that is a very touching movie which will make people cry. I don't feel like crying after watching the movie, that probably because my tear duct will only function if the plot is about romance or love rather than sacrificing the cow for the competition. Nevertheless, it's still a heartwarming show...
A new year ahead i wish for good health, good career, good results at school and good relationships with my family, friends and peers in school and at work.
I hope 2008 would be a fufiling and joyful year. Hope i can complete as many modules as i can with excellent results. I need to also find a better job with better pay, better working environment, better learning experience, most importantly a better prospect. Er.. gonna also hope to find a relationship as well, but i'll leave that to faith, don't wanna think too much.
First Movie of the year: I Am Legend
A movie with a common plot. It's somewhat similar to the movie Residential Evil 3 where human beings are infected with a certain virus and turns monsterous/violent. Will Smith - The lead in the movie, is the only survivor in the deserted island was still in search for a cure for the virus... well... Sounds so similar ain't it... Quite a nice movie thou =D
